La Roncaia

La Roncaia was founded in 1998 when the Fantinel family acquired the estate in Friuli Colli Orientali, establishing a boutique winery dedicated to expressing the unique terroir of one of the region’s most prestigious growing areas. Located across the hillside zones of Ramandolo, Nimis, Attimis, and Tarcento, the vineyards benefit from an ideal microclimate—protected by the Julian Alps and tempered by Adriatic breezes—along with marl and sandstone soils that provide optimal conditions for viticulture. With a focus on limited production, meticulous grape selection, and traditional techniques, including the use of dried grapes for passito wines, La Roncaia produces powerful reds, elegant whites, and exceptional sweet wines. Under the guidance of acclaimed winemaker Gabriele Tami, whose leadership helped earn the estate recognition among the world’s top 100 wineries by The Drinks Business in 2020, La Roncaia stands as the “crown jewel” of the Fantinel portfolio, defined by precision, craftsmanship, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
