Tasting Notes

Intense red berry color with violet nuances. On the nose, it offers dark berries, vegetal earthy notes, and light spices. On the palate, its intense, well-defined aromatics lead into a supple, finely grained tannic structure, supported by vibrant acidity and a persistent, fresh finish marked by elevated sapidity

Cultivation

Manual harvest began on September 19th.

Vinification

The grapes are destemmed and fermented in small stainless steel vats (8-10hL) with temperatures kept below 28-29° C. The cap formed by the mash is broken twice daily with a wooden cross to increase contact between the skins and the juice. The grapes from each vineyard and each day of harvest are fermented individually. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel.

Aging

Aged for 22 months in 225l barrels, 50-70% new according to the vintage, from France, mainly Burgundy. After the aging in barrel, the wines of the individual vineyards with the most distinguished character, structure, and aromatic intensity are assembled to mature for another 16 months prior to their release.

Podere Il Carnasciale is a secluded hilltop winery in the southern Chianti mountains of Tuscany’s Valdarno di Sopra, founded on the singular vision of Wolf Rogosky and today guided by his son Moritz alongside Bettina and Elle Rogosky, with oenologist Marco Maffei and a dedicated local team. The winery is defined by its exclusive cultivation of Caberlot, a rare, naturally occurring crossing of Merlot and Cabernet Franc first identified in the late 1960s near Padua. From vineyard to cellar, every decision reflects meticulous precision and environmental stewardship, with all vineyard work carried out by hand and without chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides to honor the land and the purity of Caberlot.
