Tasting Notes

The wine shows a pale straw yellow color with delicate greenish highlights. On the nose, it reveals aromas of tropical fruits, white peach and hints of Mediterranean scrub. The palate is fresh and lively, with bright acidity and a long, elegant finish.

Cultivation

Mid-October with manual selection of the grapes in crates.

Vinification

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are unloaded by hand and destemmed. After macerating on the skins for at least 4 hours, they undergo gentle pressing. The resulting must, separated from solid parts through static sedimentation, ferments in stainless steel at a controlled temperature.

Aging

The wine ages on its lees for at least 3 months in stainless steel. 0.45 micron filtration. Followed by one month in bottle.

Founded in 1824, Duca di Salaparuta is one of Sicily’s most historic and influential wineries, helping elevate the island from bulk-wine production to a respected fine-wine region. The estate cemented its legacy in 1984 with the release of Duca Enrico, Sicily’s first 100% Nero d’Avola and the first wine south of Tuscany to earn the Tre Bicchieri Award. Today, as Sicily’s largest private winery, Duca di Salaparuta blends tradition with forward-looking vision, championing innovation and sustainability across its three estates, including the Vajasindi Estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, where volcanic soils and a cool, elevated microclimate nurture grapes of remarkable character and longevity.
