Tasting Notes
A highly drinkable wine, with a delicate, slightly bitter, elegant structure, and a refined and not overpowering aroma. The moment you’ve drained your glass you immediately want another.
Cultivation
Hand-harvested at full ripeness in late summer / early fall.
Vinification
The grapes are soft pressed in order to avoid the extraction of any coarse or bitter flavors from the Friulano skins. Fermentation takes place in small, used 250-liter French oak barrels, which help to fully bring out the unique character of the terroir. In the cellar, gravity — not machines — moves the wine, preserving its purity.
Aging
Aged for 9 months in oak barrels of 250 liters.
Borgo del Tiglio, guided by Nicola Manferrari, has become a benchmark for white wine in Friuli, celebrated for the remarkable textural complexity he brings to varietals like Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia, and Chardonnay. Originally trained as a pharmacist, Nicola let curiosity and a deep respect for the land guide his path, managing yields with precise pruning, maintaining full grass coverage, and avoiding fertilizers. In the cellar, his hands-off approach and use of gravity allow the vineyard’s unique soils, microclimates, and vine age to express themselves fully, producing wines that reflect both Friuli’s character and Nicola’s scientific precision and patient craftsmanship.
