Montefili

High above Chianti Classico in Panzano, at over 500 meters a.s.l., Montefili crafts low-intervention, high-altitude wines that reveal the purity and depth of Sangiovese. Founded in 1975 with what became the first single-vineyard “Cru” in Panzano, and later revitalized in 2015, its historic vines still produce Montefili’s flagship Anfiteatro Toscana IGT. At the heart of the winery is Serena Gusmeri, an agronomist first and winemaker second, who brings a deeply terroir-driven, sustainable approach, guiding each of Montefili’s 12.5 hectares with careful technological and manual interventions to enhance soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem vitality. Part of Italy’s first bio-district and a recognized DiversityArk company, Montefili gives more back to the land than it takes, ensuring every parcel expresses the unique character of its soils and the purity of Sangiovese.
